Braving the Winter Cold with #NutriencePets

Share
father's Day from the Cat

Winter is on the way, and while we have it pretty easy here in Arizona; the rest of the country, will be fighting through snow and rain and wind.

Nutrience echoes our sentiments about healthy, active lifestyles. We are not the poster children for physical activity, but our pets are in great shape because they motivate us to get outdoors and be active. Whether it’s agility, walking the cats, or just playing a quick game of fetch – our pets activity influence our activity levels.

There are many ways you can keep your pets active during the cold winter months. Just be sure you continue to feed them a high-quality food like Nutrience. There is a lot to like about this food (check out our earlier review here).

Nutrience sources their ingredients from world class Canadian and US growers and harvest their fruits, vegetables and botanicals at their peak. Combine this with top of the line meat and fish proteins and you have a solid food you can trust.

The whole fruits and vegetables contain rich antioxidant and phytonutrient properties, which help pets burn energy properly, and Low Glycemic Carbohydrates provide essential amino acids for overall health.

A great everyday diet created for all life stages, Nutrience Grain Free Turkey, Chicken & Herring formula also suits active or sensitive pets, providing:

  • 4 premium protein sources for a range of amino acids
  • Marine-source Omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy skin & coat
  • Low-glycemic sweet potatoes & lentils to replace grains
  • Featuring 4 premium and varied protein sources including fresh turkey, free-run chicken, deboned herring & whole egg, along with regional fruits & vegetables, nutrient-rich botanicals, healthy fats and nutritional supplements.

Did we mention that you can order through Amazon and have it delivered directly to your front door? That’s just one more advantage of this food! No need to brave the winter storms just to run up to the pet food store!

Nutrience asked us to talk about ways we keep our pets healthy and slim – specifically, our cats. Besides feeding them a grain-free diet, we focus on physical activity…

Walks

You may not think that cats enjoy going for walks, but it really depends on the cat! We take two of ours out for walks every morning. They know that they have to wear their harness, so they wait for us at the door each morning at 7 am. We just take them around our yard which is about ½ acre (plenty of things to explore). But, you could start out by taking them for walks around the house.

Agility

We have been trying to get our cats more into agility. It’s not always successful, but we keep trying. We set up an obstacle course using the Kyjen Dog Agility Starter Kit with Dog Tunnel Weave Pole High Jump Obstacles, Large, Red and we lead them through the course using the new Neko Flies telescoping rod or our favorite treats. You could set up your own course using any type of obstacle from kitchen chairs to cardboard boxes!

Treadmill

Our cats love to walk on the treadmill. We have a specialized treadmill from PetZen, but you could use your own treadmill. This is especially valuable on days that are cold and windy. See how easy it is to train  your pets to walk on a treadmill by reading here.

With winter fast approaching, we have to work a little harder to keep our pets active. It’s cold outside and our pets require a little more encouragement to head outdoors. They also need a high-protein food that is going to keep them warm – which is another reason why we think you’ll like Nutrience.
